Our cultural heritage: tangible and intangible

Cultural heritage is the legacy of a group or society, our roots, our essence, what we inherit from past generations, and we maintain in the present to pass it on to future generations. This cultural heritage can be tangible and intangible. The difference is very easy: - tangible: physical places and objects we can touch (monuments, historic places, food, clothing, books, landscapes, works of art...) - intangible: language, floklore, stories, music, dance, celebrations, traditions...

4. Can you name some foods? 5. Do you know any legend? 6. What about our customs?

Let´s define our identity as Galicians

The bagpipe is our voice in the world. It represents our soul as Galicians.

Destiny: New York

For decades, New York has been a destiny for Galician migrants, especially at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century: There are about 31,000 Spaniards living the city and nearly 6,000 of them are native-born Galicians. Most of them come from A Coruña (4,000) followed by those from Pontevedra as a distant second (942), Ourense (924), and Lugo (248).
