READINGIdentify the verbs in the past tense

Mike: I phoned you on Saturday but you weren’t at home. Anna: No, I went out with Carla and her sister. Mike: Where did you go? Anna: Well, we wanted to try that new French restaurant in town, but it was closed. So we had a burger and went to see the new Brad Pitt film. It was really good!

Dave: How did you meet your husband, Jane? Jane: Oh, I met Pete when I was a student. I was bored one weekend so I decided to go home and see my family. I didn’t have enough money to take the train, so I took the bus. Pete had the seat next to me and we started chatting. The rest, as they say, is history!

Tim: Did you see the match last night? George: Only the first half. Jill wasn’t at home so I had to cook dinner for the kids. Then I had to help them with their homework. Tim: Don’t worry! It wasn’t a very good match.
