The Mercado Central of Valencia is a place for lovers of gastronomy
MODERN STYLE
It was designed by the architects Alejandro Soler March and Francisco Guardia Vial in November 1914. The work was completed in 1928 by the architects Enrique Viedma and Ángel Romaní.

The horchata or orxata is a vegetable sweet cold drink.It is made with a tuber, tiger nuts (chufa or xufa) and sugar.

Paella
Paella is Valencian’s most popular rice and the icon of our cuisine. The classic Valencian version is made with rice, chicken and vegetables, but also could incorporates seafood like calamari, mussels, and more, or a vegetarian version.

The Oceanogràfic of Valencia
This cutting-edge oceanarium opened in 2003 and is located in the east of the city of Valencia.The aquarium is organised by zones, each with a distinct environment, and uses seawater pumped from Valencia’s waterfront. As one of the biggest aquariums in Europe there are more than 45,000 individual animals from 500 different species. Visitors can get to know tiger sharks, penguins, walruses, dolphins, sea lions and many more at this impressive attraction.

It is the work of the architects Félix Candela and José María Tomás Llavador, and the engineers Alberto Domingo and Carlos Lázaro.

THE PALAU DE LES ARTS REINA SOFIA
Its an opera house and cultural centre that opened in October 2005
A spectacular building, designed by the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, dedicated to promoting the performing arts. With an extension of 55,000 square meters, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia is one of the finest international venues for theatre, dance, opera and music concerts.
Lorin Maazel was the musical director and founder in 2006 of the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana. The orchestra has prestige and recognition thanks to the presence of Zubin Meta in the first seasons.James Gaffigan is the Music Director from 2021.

WORLD DESIGN CAPITAL VALENCIA 2022

Valencia has been selected by the World Design Organization as World Design Capital for this year. This project aims to join in incorporating the interests of Alicante and Castellón, acting as a driving force and promoter of the whole Valencian territory.
Different projects are being carried out throughout the year such as conferences, exhibitions, feminine design, ecological design, etc.

An interesting project has been the construction of the Ágora of the Valencia City Council, a participatory and inclusive space. Designed by Manolo García, fallero artist with ceramic elements.
The Comunitat Valenciana has a great ceramic tradition. It stands out in modernist houses with the use of hydraulic brick.
