GAP FILL READING STRATEGY

To command the strategy readers should:

Without looking at the word box, try to figure out what could be a logical word to use in the empty space

Read again the whole text with the options chosen and check if it makes sense for you.

Decide which part of speech corresponds to the gap (noun, adjective, adverb, verb etc)

Quickly read the complete paragraph first, to have a general understanding of the text.

Examine the words in the word box and locate them in the passage. Choose the word that best suits the gap.
