Business case
In the last engagement survey, our colleagues showed that they want more development to become better in their roles. While Covid put a pause on personal and professional development (with many colleagues being on furlough and following recruitment challenges leading to many colleagues working extended hours), we are now in position where, as a business, we want to bring colleagues’ attention to development opportunities within company. We have big apprenticeships offer available, internal development programmes for Team Leader and management development and Learning Management System (LMS) with big variety of topics available for all our colleagues. New workshops will be available from autumn and we are working with external providers to prepare more targeted content for senior management level. While wide range of content is available to all our colleagues, one of the biggest challenges is lack of awareness of the Learning & Development (L&D) offer within the business – mainly in operations. There is not enough communication from L&D side showcasing development opportunities and addressing lack of understanding of our LMS within the business (general assumption is that the LMS is used only for mandatory training such as Health & Food Safety) The “Back to School” programme is addressing the lack of communication and showcases development opportunities.
Learning outcomes
For purpose of the ‘Back to School’ programme, Learning Outcomes are set to address the Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) – we concentrate on Remember, Understand and Apply steps of Bloom’s Taxonomy. The programme will equip learners with knowledge and skills they need to understand available learning and devlopoment opportunities. Learners will also be able to identify own development needs, have an informed discussion with their line manager about their development, create development plan and find content to support achieving set development goals.
"Back to School" learning outcomes
- Gain a good understanding of SSP Academy and be able to use it to support own development as well as development of your team.
- Understand the importance of compliance training and what impact not following compliance training has on the business.
- Understand apprenticeships offer in SSP and who it is suitable for.
- Know where to find information about available workshops and how to book your place in a workshop.
- Be able to identify own development needs, prepare for development conversation with your manager and create Personal Development Plan.
- Find supporting development content on external providers' websites.
Tools for measuring learning outcomes
- content usage report (tracking number of views)
- compliance report
- number of colleagues expressing interest in apprenticeships & new apprenticeship starts (data collected by Apprenticeships administrator)
- workshops bookings reports (track how many colleagues are signing up for workshops in current offer)
- Development section results in next customer survey
