The hunchback of Notre Dame
-1996-
Romanticism and gothic novel
1. Historical novel
- It has had several adaptations: theatre, cinema, ballet...
2. SOCIAL CRITICISM
It reminds me of my favorite novel, "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley, it reveals what the true ugliness is. At first we all can think that Frankenstein or Quasimodo are the monsters, but the truth is that only society, which rejects and misstreats them just because they're not "beautiful", is the true monster.
3. CURIOUS facts
In the original novel, Frollo was a priest
"Hellfire", the famous song sung by Frollo, is inspired in an italian opera. "Te Deum" composed by Giacomo Puccini
Another famous character of Disney appears
All the characters were drawn by hand
The animation team travelled to París for recreating better its atmosphere
4. Controversy: current situation and double standards
Something that should make us think
Why this...
Marginalization
Pedophilia
Racism
Murder
Church corruption
...
Public humiliation
and this...
- Abuse of drugs and alcohol
- Animal abuse
- Mistreatment
- Prostitution
...have never been questionated like this?
Forbidden in 14 countries
Prejudges to the world of the animation
Double standard
Hypocrisy
Animation is not "just for kids"
Stop infantilizing children
THAnk you!
