In order to be considered as a Personal Extenuating Circumstance (PEC), such difficulties must meet all of the following criteria: - They must be out of your control – be unavoidable, where you could not have prevented them.- They must have had an impact – the circumstance must have had a demonstrably negative impact on your ability to study or undertake an assessment.- The timing of the circumstance must be relevant to the claimed impact

Where possible, if you are considering submitting a PEC application, you are advised tofirst consult your tutor or supervisor

Important Points:

Your PEC form will be processed confidentially

You do not need to submit a PEC if you have an SSP or your situation is already being accounted for

You can submit a PEC form twice per semester (4 in total for each academic year)

Your PEC form is not guaranteed to be accepted

Look out for emails that mention the final deadline for submitting a PEC form!

Most PEC requests will require documentary evidence

Student Representation

Student Voice Forum

This provides an opportunity for staff to network and share ideas between academic units.

There are many groups that represent students, such as the Student Union, course representatives, and more.

Student voice is a committee made up of staff and students who are there to improve communication between the two. There are many ways that Student Voice does this, as seen on the right. Click here for a list of members and course representatives on the Student Voice commitee who are available if you need help.
