SIMPLE PRESENT

WHAT IS SIMPLE PRESENT?

The simple present is a verb tense. We use it when an action is happening right now, or when it happens regularly.

  • El Salvador is the smallest country in Central America.
  • Cerro El Pital is the highest point in the country,
with a height of 2,730 meters.
  • Fernando goes to the gym every weekend.
  • I eat lunch every day at 1:30 p.m.
  • She reads a book every night.
  • I feed my cat before leaving home.
  • The airplane from El salvador leaves every
two hours.
  • Ana drives to work at 9:30 a.m.

WHEN TO USE SIMPLE PRESENT:

For activities that happen regularly in the present.

Present simple to talk about facts.

To talk about habits.

Subject + do/ does + not + verb + cExamples:

  • He doesn´t drive a car.
  • It doesn´t run fast.
  • We don´t work in a restaurant.

Subject + verb (s/es/ies) + complementExamples:

  • I play soccer every day.
  • She reads a book in her room.
  • They go to the beach.

Remember, do not add an "-s" or "-es" after the other verb in sentences with "does".
