GLOBAL WARMING
Global warming is the long-term heating of Earth’s climate system observed since the pre-industrial period (between 1850 and 1900) due to human activities
Greenhouse gases
57°
Humans have caused the majority of the past century's warming by generating heat-trapping gases as we power our contemporary lives. Called greenhouse gases, their levels are higher now than at any time in the last 800,000 years.
Effects
-Ice is melting worldwide, especially at the Earth’s poles.-Much of this melting ice contributes to sea-level rise. Global sea levels are rising 0.13 inches (3.2 millimeters) a year. -Rising temperatures are affecting wildlife and their habitats.
