In this day and age, computers are everywhere! Business and industry rely on their computer networks in all facets of operations. If you like working with computers, consider this pathway! So what is computer science? Computer science studies computer systems, design software, and solve problems using computing technologies. The discipline encompasses programming languages, computer networks, cybersecurity, database management, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. On the job, computer scientists use technology to solve problems and prepare for the future. They also write and program software to create applications. Their primary focus, however, is to validate and develop models for interaction between people and computers or software and devices.

Healthcare Specialist
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Healthcare Specialist pathway is a three year program where students will focus on learning about the healthcare system and employment opportunities at a variety of entry levels. An overview of the healthcare delivery systems, healthcare teams and legal and ethical considerations; and obtaining the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for providing basic care in a variety of healthcare settings. Additionally, students will build their essential job related skills to record patient medical histories and symptoms; provide medication and treatments; consult with physicians and other healthcare providers; operate and monitor medical equipment; perform diagnostic tests; teach patients and families how to manage their illness or injury; and perform general health screenings.
Students will need appropriate documentation to work in the U.S. to be eligible for licensing within this pathway; however, they may complete this pathway to meet the high school graduation requirements necessary for an Indiana diploma.

Medical Assisting
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Medical Assistants play a vital role in the healthcare field by working collaboratively with a team in doctors’ offices, medical clinics, hospitals and specialty practices. Medical assistants gather information on patients’ medical histories and health issues, and provide patients with information and instructions regarding treatment. They prepare rooms, patients, and instruments for the physician, as well as offer basic support during procedures. On the administrative side, they work to keep records current and organized, schedule appointments, file insurance claims, answer phones, schedule appointments, and more. Are you mechanically inclined? Do you build or repair things for fun? The Automation and Robotics pathway may be for you. This program prepares students for a new and emerging career that trains technicians with “multi-craft” skills to work on robotic and “intelligent” equipment ranging from ATM machines to multi-million dollar manufacturing cells. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Every year, fires and other emergencies take thousands of lives and destroy property worth billions of dollars. F irefighters and emergency services workers help protect the public against these dangers by rapidly responding to a variety of emergencies. They are frequently the first emergency personnel at the scene of a traffic accident or medical emergency and may be called upon to put out a fire, treat injuries or perform other vital functions. The Fire and Rescue curriculum may include the following Indiana state fire certifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations. During the Senior Capstone, students will prepare to earn their EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) Certification. IPS is proud to partner with the Indianapolis Fire Department.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Investigations into design theory and color dynamics will provide experiences in applying design theory, ideas and creative problem solving, critical peer evaluation, and presentation skills. Students will have the opportunity to apply the design theory through an understanding of basic photographic theory and technique. Skills are developed through work with professional vector-based and page layout software used in the industry. Additionally, students will be introduced to a full range of image input technology and manipulation including conventional photography, digital imaging, and computer scanners. Students will learn to communicate concepts and ideas through various imaging devices.

Commercial Photography is an organized learning experience that includes theory, laboratory, and studio work as each relates to all phases of camera use, photographic processing, and electronic photographic editing. WELDING
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Students interested in the Welding pathway will learn the proper techniques in fusing metal materials together using high heat equipment and welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and electric arc welding. Students will work with a range of materials and equipment in fitting and assembling metal components to form structures, understand and comply with safety regulations by wearing protective gloves, helmets, and boots and can earn dual credits and industry recognized certification as part of the curriculum.

CULINARY ARTS
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Culinary Arts and Hospitality program trains students to plan, figure costs, manage, prepare and serve food in commercial restaurants and semi-public institutions. All phases of food preparation and serving are covered through classroom activities and operating a restaurant during the lunch hour. Students are given the opportunity to service their peers and staff members through the Col. Cupboard restaurant, located on Arsenal Tech's campus. Students will earn their Serv-Safe Food Handler certification as well as have opportunities to earn dual credit through the pathway. Partnerships: IPS has partnered with the Patachou Foundation to offer a Summer Food Fellows Internship to students in this pathway.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Early Childhood Education is a three year program that prepares students for employment in early childhood education and related careers that involve working with children from birth to 8 years (3rd grade) and provides the foundations for study in higher education that leads to early childhood education and other child-related careers. Major course topics include: career paths in early childhood education; promoting child development and learning; building family and community relationships; observing, documenting, and assessing to support young children and families; using developmentally effective approaches; using content knowledge to build meaningful curriculum, and becoming an early childhood education professional. Students can participate in a paid apprenticeship in this pathway leading to earning the Child Development Associate (CDA) certification.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Animal science is the study of animals that live alongside humans. Around the world, humans rely on animals for food, fiber, labor and companionship. Animal scientists help us understand and manage these animals.Animal scientists work with farm animals, wildlife, laboratory animals, pets and zoo animals. They study these animals to help keep them healthy and productive. Animal scientists help put food on our tables. Animal scientists work with farmers to improve animal breeding, growth and nutrition.When animals grow well and stay healthy, farmers can produce more meat, milk or eggs for our consumption. Animal scientists also work with farmers to decrease the environmental impact of animal agriculture. Students will work with animals in an urban setting throughout the year.

IU Health Fellowship Program Indianapolis Public Schools and IU Health have partnered to create a unique fellowship program for high school students at Crispus Attucks High School. The IU Health Fellowship Program at Crispus Attucks expands and enhances high quality career pathways while preparing Fellows for careers in the health care industry. Throughout the three-year program, Fellows receive healthcare training, participate in enrichment activities, job shadow, experience paid internships, and enjoy other work-based learning opportunities. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Are you mechanically inclined? Do you build or repair things for fun? The Automation and Robotics pathway may be for you. This program prepares students for a new and emerging career that trains technicians with “multi-craft” skills to work on robotic and “intelligent” equipment ranging from ATM machines to multi-million dollar manufacturing cells. The skills taught include electrical, mechanical, and computer technologies. Automation and Robotics professionals will usually assist the design, development and engineering staff, as well as work closely with others to install, maintain, modify and repair mechatronic systems, equipment and component parts. The program combines academic training with hands-on activities, a capstone experience, and the opportunity to sit for industry certification exams.

The GWHS Early College program offers its scholars a range of college-level courses. These courses may be specific to certain academic disciplines or be part of a broader curriculum. The availability of courses will vary depending on the GWHS resources and institutional partnership offerings. Scholars in this program will have access to pursue the Indiana College Core and Associate Degree in General Studies. GWHS's Early College offers resources and support to help high school scholars transition to college life. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Every year, fires and other emergencies take thousands of lives and destroy property worth billions of dollars. F irefighters and emergency services workers help protect the public against these dangers by rapidly responding to a variety of emergencies. They are frequently the first emergency personnel at the scene of a traffic accident or medical emergency and may be called upon to put out a fire, treat injuries or perform other vital functions. The Fire and Rescue curriculum may include the following Indiana state fire certifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations. During the Senior Capstone, students will prepare to earn their EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) Certification. IPS is proud to partner with the Indianapolis Fire Department.

Graphic imaging
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Investigations into design theory and color dynamics will provide experiences in applying design theory, ideas and creative problem solving, critical peer evaluation, and presentation skills. Students will have the opportunity to apply the design theory through an understanding of basic photographic theory and technique. Skills are developed through work with professional vector-based and page layout software used in the industry. Additionally, students will be introduced to a full range of image input technology and manipulation including conventional photography, digital imaging, and computer scanners. Students will learn to communicate concepts and ideas through various imaging devices.

Commerical Photography
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Commercial Photography is an organized learning experience that includes theory, laboratory, and studio work as each relates to all phases of camera use, photographic processing, and electronic photographic editing. Students have the ability to apply special techniques and digital processes while refining printing and processing skills. It will also emphasize composition and the use of photography as a communication tool. Focus is placed on camera operation and composition related to traditional photographic principles and also tools and creative effects for editing and/or enhancing photographs. Students will also learn the basics of planning, shooting, editing and post-producing video and sound and utilize these skills to visually communicate ideas and information.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Considering a career in animation or film production? Have you ever wondered what it takes to make your own Disney film or become the next Ava DuVernay, Quentin Tarantino, or Kathleen Kennedy? If so, this hands-on class is for you! Learn essential, behind-the-scenes skills as you write, direct, edit, and produce short film(s), as well as learn the basics of animation, how to record for radio spots, podcasts, sports broadcast, and other forms of communication. You will use software and equipment that is currently used by professionals. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Interested in becoming musical notables such as Beyonce, Bad Bunny or Drake? To have a successful career in the music industry, one must be passionate about music and be talented in the foundation of digital audio recording and mixing skills. Whether you are a fan of Latin music, rap, R & B, or Country, you will explore different styles, rhythms, and music history all as a foundation to creating your own music and mixes. Through class projects, you will develop skills in music composition, engineering, sound editing, mixing and creating soundtracks for movies all using software and equipment that is in high-demand in the industry. You will also have the opportunity to perform, record your own tracks and collaborate with other musicians.

Automotive Technology is the practical application of knowledge about self-propelled vehicles or machines. Students studying automotive technology learn about engine construction, fuel and ignition systems, power trains, brakes, transmissions, electronic and diagnostic equipment, and more. Construction trades
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Are you a hands-on learner? Do you like to build things? If so, then this is the pathway for you. A history of construction, future trends and career options, reading technical drawings and transforming those drawings into physical structures are covered in the Construction Trades Pathway. Students will examine the design and construction of floor and wall systems and develop layout and floor construction skills. Students will have opportunities to build several projects, large and small, throughout the year.

WELDING
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Students interested in the Welding pathway will learn the proper techniques in fusing metal materials together using high heat equipment and welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and electric arc welding. Students will work with a range of materials and equipment in fitting and assembling metal components to form structures, understand and comply with safety regulations by wearing protective gloves, helmets, and boots and can earn dual credits and industry recognized certification as part of the curriculum.

CULINARY ARTS
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Culinary Arts and Hospitality program trains students to plan, figure costs, manage, prepare and serve food in commercial restaurants and semi-public institutions. All phases of food preparation and serving are covered through classroom activities and operating a restaurant during the lunch hour. Students are given the opportunity to service their peers and staff members through the Col. Cupboard restaurant, located on Arsenal Tech's campus. Students will earn their Serv-Safe Food Handler certification as well as have opportunities to earn dual credit through the pathway. Partnerships: IPS has partnered with the Patachou Foundation to offer a Summer Food Fellows Internship to students in this pathway.

Your flair for style will blossom as you master basic, contemporary and advanced techniques in cosmetology. IPS' comprehensive cosmetology program will teach you to: Use the latest trends in haircutting, coloring and design for men, women and children Master hair texture concepts and create the haircut or style that will please every guest Provide nail services such as manicures and pedicures, as well as esthetic skin care procedures Develop marketing and communication skills to attract loyal salon clients and build your business through positive word of mouth—all while serving guests in our in- house salon.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Early Childhood Education is a three year program that prepares students for employment in early childhood education and related careers that involve working with children from birth to 8 years (3rd grade) and provides the foundations for study in higher education that leads to early childhood education and other child-related careers. Major course topics include: career paths in early childhood education; promoting child development and learning; building family and community relationships; observing, documenting, and assessing to support young children and families; using developmentally effective approaches; using content knowledge to build meaningful curriculum, and becoming an early childhood education professional. Students can participate in a paid apprenticeship in this pathway leading to earning the Child Development Associate (CDA) certification.

Students can choose one of the following pathway options: Butler Early College Program - Do you want to be an elementary, middle or high school teacher? Apply for this program and begin taking college classes through Butler beginning in Junior year. Students can apply for a full scholarship to attend Butler University after graduation.

Animal Sciences
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Animal science is the study of animals that live alongside humans. Around the world, humans rely on animals for food, fiber, labor and companionship. Animal scientists help us understand and manage these animals.Animal scientists work with farm animals, wildlife, laboratory animals, pets and zoo animals. They study these animals to help keep them healthy and productive. Animal scientists help put food on our tables. Animal scientists work with farmers to improve animal breeding, growth and nutrition.When animals grow well and stay healthy, farmers can produce more meat, milk or eggs for our consumption. Animal scientists also work with farmers to decrease the environmental impact of animal agriculture. Students will work with animals in an urban setting throughout the year.

Healthcare Specialist
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Healthcare Specialist/Pre Nursing pathway is a three year program where students will focus on learning about the healthcare system and employment opportunities at a variety of entry levels. An overview of the healthcare delivery systems, healthcare teams and legal and ethical considerations; and obtaining the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for providing basic care in a variety of healthcare settings. Students will build their essential job related skills to record patient medical histories and symptoms; provide medication and treatments; consult with physicians and other healthcare providers; operate and monitor medical equipment; perform diagnostic tests; teach patients and families how to manage their illness or injury; and perform general health screenings.

Medical Assisting
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Medical Assistants play a vital role in the healthcare field by working collaboratively with a team in doctors’ offices, medical clinics, hospitals and specialty practices. Medical assistants gather information on patients’ medical histories and health issues, and provide patients with information and instructions regarding treatment. They prepare rooms, patients, and instruments for the physician, as well as offer basic support during procedures. On the administrative side, they work to keep records current and organized, schedule appointments, file insurance claims, answer phones, schedule appointments, and more.

IU Health Fellowship Program Indianapolis Public Schools and IU Health have partnered to create a unique fellowship program for high school students at Crispus Attucks High School. The IU Health Fellowship Program at Crispus Attucks expands and enhances high quality career pathways while preparing Fellows for careers in the health care industry. Throughout the three-year program, Fellows receive healthcare training, participate in enrichment activities, job shadow, experience paid internships, and enjoy other work-based learning opportunities.
