Welcome!

Welcome to the advanced level! I hope we get to know each other and that we can help each other throughout the course. if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me: at karriola@britanico.edu.pe

If a student is absent and there was homework, he/she should communicate with the teacher and present their homework.

rULES!

You must register in my English lab (if you're in ADV01) and/or join my class when I give you the class code.

Before we start the course, let's make some things clear:

It's mandatory to have the camera and microphone on, especially the camera during evaluation dates.

The minimum number of hours to pass the course is 13.5 hrs. Please make sure you don't pass the limit.

It's the student's responsibility to accomplish all tasks required and be informed about them.

Every class is evaluated, so please make sure you participate throughout the lesson.

EVALUATION DATES

  • As you can see, the speaking evaluation comprises four skills: Fluency, Language, Pronunciation, and Interaction. The max. mark is 20.
  • There are two writings, 1 is done in class and the other would be homework.
  • You must do two quizzes in MyEnglishLab. The max score is 10.
  • We have four exams: The listening and Writing (day 1) and the reading and final test (day 2).
  • Bear in mind that the reading exam is set as homework, so you MUST have the answers ready to transfer on the day of the final exam.

MY ENGLISH LAB

My English Lab (MEL) is a platform from Pearson, that we use at the advanced level. You'll need to create an account (username and password) and then you'll need the class code to be in my class, so I can check your progress. Pearson also offers your some other materials such as the reader and the app. I'll recommend you to explore these options once you have your account.

MY ENGLISH LAB

  • Once you have created your account and joined my class, you'll be able to explore MEL.
  • As you can see here, you'll have the Maximizer (workbook) to work online. If you want me to check that you're using the workbook, do it online.
  • You also have some extra practice, take advantage of that materials, so you can be ready for the B2 first Exam.
  • Do not use TESTS since those are the quizzes for advanced, just do it when I assign them.

rEADING TASK

To find the reading task, you need to go to "britanico intranet" (not aula virtuaL) and go to "material del alumno", Once you go there, find the "AD_ online" file. Please make sure that you download the correct file.

For our listening and writing exam, we'll use a word document, which you can find on the intranet. So, go to "britanico's intranet", click on "material para alumno", then "AD_ ONLINE" file and download the "listening test and writing test-asnwer sheet" doc.

Listening and WRITING TEST

Please remember that you need to transfer your reading exam answers to the final exam. You'll have the option once you finish with the first part of the exam (Use of English).

FINAL EXAM

The day of the final exam

Once you finish, let me know so I can check that I have received your exam. You cannot leave or turn off your camera until I tell you that I have received it.

We're going to use "Microsoft forms" for the final exam. You will only have 40 min for it.
