Reasons for testing students
Teachers teach content then test students. This cycle of teaching and testing is familiar to anyone who has been a student. Tests seek to see what students have learned.Educators create tests to measure their students' understanding of specific content or the effective application of critical thinking skills.
Types of test
Progress test
PLacement test
Achievement or exit test
A test carried out during a student's course to assess their learning.
A test that measures the accomplishments of an individual after a period of training or learning.
An examination used to test students' academic ability in a certain field.
Public examinations
Continuous assessment
portafolio
It's the regular evaluation of the learning process'. This form of testing can be counted in whole, in part or not at all in the students' final scores.
Portfolio assessments ask students or teachers to collect work products that show growth over a specific period of time.
A public exam is a common test conducted across the state and students may have to take the test in another school.
good tests
They are those that fulfill the function for which they were created, a good test has a positive effect on the students since they are evaluated with the knowledge previously transferred by the teachers.
The tests have a marked backwash/backwash effect
a good test is valid
A good test must have rating reliability
It is a way of measuring in students what they have learned during a given teaching period.
We need to provide an exam that is not only easy to take, but that, compared to other exams, can match the answers.
This means that it does what it says it will do.
A good tests have a powerful effect on student motivation
Firstly, students often work a lot harder than normal when there is a test or examination in sight. Secondly, they can be greatly encouraged by success in tests, or, conversely, demotivated by doing badly.
test types
Discrete item testing
Integrative testing
The integrative test is generally considered to be a more reliable instrument for measuring language competence.
It's refers to the testing of one element at a time, item by item.
test types
Direct test
Indirect test
It is easier t carry out when it is intended to measure the productive skills of speaking and writing.
Attempts to measure the abilities underlie the skills in which we are interested.
