The Steam Engine
The steam engine was invented in 1765 by James Watt and patented in 1769. It has been used in a vast number of machines and vehicles, mainly during the industrial revolution, as it could be used to generate energy from internal combustion, which, instead of being fueled by hidrocarbons, is powered by the expansion of water steam. This way, steam can be utilized to generate kinetic energy and to create machinery with greater capacity, such as the locomotive.
