COMMITMENT OF THE WEEK
I DIALOGUE ABOUT FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
I commit !
Freedom of expression is not a given in the world of work. For example, it is not always easy to give a dissenting opinion in a unanimous group. It is also sometimes difficult to express one's personal needs, for example when a project deadline is being set or during an evaluation interview. Yet this freedom of expression is one of the foundations of an inclusive environment. When properly regulated by the manager, it allows him or her to bring out collective and individual adjustment needs and to give employees realistic room for manoeuvre to respond to them. This room for manoeuvre is key, particularly for women, who are statistically more likely to be juggling family constraints. But freedom of expression cannot be improvised: there are more or less opportune moments to get messages across, a certain attitude to be received with kindness, a way of presenting one's needs or ideas with a view to collective progress. To make progress, I open the dialogue on freedom of expression with a Happy Men Share More interview guide.
