Lab Journal - Week (1)

Introduction

The table of supplies

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the table of craft tools including colourful objects, batteries, wires, markers, paper and ...Unconsciously they (the objects) made me happy! and I was thinking "we are going to have fun!" This is how the class with children will work perfectly. By providing the materials that will grab their attention and provoke their enthusiasm, the class will be animated and fun.

Introduce yourself

Although I arrived late, thanks to Stephen I understood that the first part of the class was about introducing oneself. I really appreciate this part of each class because the students will feel better when they know one another from the very first day.

Introduce yourself

Actually, I have the same routine in my classes in the first session. This is my name card, I have chosen the colors of the flag of France because I teach french.

Making / Playing

I noticed that all the students were eager to "make" something out of different materials. The final result and goal was clear but what was important for most of them was the "teamwork" and the "process" of making and creating something.

Group -Project Team members: Maryam Shrey Pantea

I really enjoyed this project. The 1st thing I loved was the support and care of each memebr of our group. The other thing was the creative ideas and suggestions in building a machine. The 3rd most important thing in our teamwork was that each member played a key role in the final result.

The lesson I learnt from playing in the first class was: The process of problem-solving in a project and the physical involvement and language engagement in an activity will make student capable of creating and feeling confident about their abilities.
