Story
Approximately in the year 1530, the Spaniards carried out a well-armed expedition in Nicaraguan territory to expand their domains and increase their wealth. In this incursion the Spaniards managed to reduce the Sébaco Indians, inhabitants of the Moyúa Lagoon. The chief of the Indian tribe, once defeated, gave the conquistadors bags made of deer hide, filled with gold nuggets.
Story
The news in Spain that the conquistadors had returned with great riches caught the attention of a young man, who hoped to wear the habits and whose father had died in this incursion. Determined, the young man joined a new expedition, and after a long and arduous journey arrived on Nicaraguan soil, where he was very well received by the villagers, believing he was a priest.
Story
Once in Sébaco, the young man met the cacique's beautiful daughter and fell in love with her with the intention of seizing her father's riches. The young Indian girl fell madly in love with the Spaniard, and as proof of her love, she showed him the place where her father kept his riches. Some say that the Spaniard also fell in love with the young Indian girl. The cacique, upon learning of the love affairs between his daughter and the foreigner, opposed the relationship, and they were forced to flee, but the cacique found them and confronted the Spaniard, managing to kill him. Then he locked his daughter, even though she was pregnant, in a cave in the hills. But there are versions that assure that it was the Spaniard who locked up the Indian after seizing the treasures.
Story
Legend has it that La Mocuana went mad with time in her confinement, from which she managed to get out through a tunnel, but in doing so she threw her little son into an abyss, and since then she appears on the roads inviting hikers to her cave. Those who have encountered her say that her face cannot be seen, only her slender figure and her beautiful long black hair. In some places it is said that when La Mocuana finds a newborn child, she slits its throat and leaves a handful of gold to the child's parents. There are other versions that assure that she takes it away, always leaving the gold pieces.
