Tione Jayden Merritt, known by his stage name "lil tjay" he born in "Bronx"(New York) 30 april 2001.

He was raised by his mother with his 2 younger siblings

He described himself as a troubled child as he made little robberies and got into fights.

he was sentenced to a year in a juvenile center,

He grew up near the birthplace of hip hop

he recorded some songs on his computer and phone in a traditional hip hop style.

He spent singing Usher and Michael Jackson songs while his mother played the piano.

He began singing his lyrics and then recorded "Resume," an anti-love song in January 2018

That helped him to reconsider and start his musical career

The first song he did was “Resume”

In 2016, Lil Tjay started releasing music on SoundCloud, one of his first songs, was released when was15.

In March 10, 2018, he called the attention of a record label called A&R

He released the single Brothers it was more popular and led him to sign a contract with Columbia Records

In that same year he also performed in the well-known concert "Rolling Loud"

held in Miami alongside stars of the genre such as Migos, Travis Scott and Kid Cudi

He currently has 1 wife and 3 children.

In 2020 he released his third EP entitled State of Emergency.
