Additional Features on your Computer

Light up your keyboard

To light up your keyboard, especially when working in a darkened room:

  • Click the “Fn” (Function) key and the space bar
  • Repeat to brighten the lit up keyboard, and repeat again to turn off

Your computer has a stylus

  • Every computer in the district has a stylus
  • It can be located on the side of your computer
  • It sits in a seamless slot and slides out if you pull it with your finger nails

Set up multiple monitors

  • Press down on the Windows button and the “P”
  • A popup windows displays on your main monitor
  • Select your choice between PC screen only, duplicate, extend, or 2nd screen only

Sometimes you may want to have two documents side by side on one screen. You can do this by splitting your screen.

  • Click the windows key and the right or left arrow.
  • If you click the top/down arrow, the documents will move top and bottom.
  • Choose the second document that you want to use on the other side of your screen

How to update your computer

All computers need to be updated. To do updates on your computer:

  • Click on the search box on your desktop and type in Security scan
  • Click on security scan and it will run automatically
  • Repeat this to do an Inventory scan

You should update at least a couple of times a month. If your computer stops working correctly, this is one of the first things you can do to trouble shoot issues.

When you select extend mode for your monitors, the default settings, may not be set up the way you want.Steps to adjust your settings:

  • Right click on your computer desktop
  • Select display settings from the popup window
  • Drag your monitors into the desired orientation
