ORIGIN OF THE MASK

The son of Akhenaten, Tutankhamun, died when he was 18 or 19 years old in 1325 BC . When Tutankhamun died, the egyptians gived to him a lot of riches ,and amongst that riches, the pharaoh wore a very beautiful mask that was started to make in 1354 BC and was finnished in 1340 BC that nowadays it still being very important of the egyptian history.

DISCOVEREMENT

The british archaeologist Howard Carter, in 1922, he found a lot of sarcophagus and the Tutankhamun´s one was the only sarcophagus that contained a mommy. Thas why the famous of the pharaoh Tutankhamun. When Howard Carter discovered the sarcophagus, he couldn´t se the mask until 5 years later because the sarcophagus was in 6 layers of the tombstone. The lid of the outer layer weighed 2 tons. That happened in the Valley of the Kings

MATERIALS OF CONSTRUCTION

The egyptians wanted to be sure that the pharaoh has a very good live when he die. The bests goldsmiths worked hard to be sure the mask was perfect.The mask was made of gold, obsidian, lapis lazuli, quartz, turquoise, carnelian and glass. If you want to buy this mask, you must have 2 millon dolars.

When Howard Carter discovered the mask, he imediatly gived to the most recognised museum of Egypt that is the Museum of Cairo, very near to the localization of the Keops pyramid.

BONUS 1

Christian Eckmann, head of the international restoration team, decided to glue the mask´s beard when accidently fallen from the Tutankhamun's mask in January 2014. In the museum they glued it with an epoxy resin for home use.

When Howard discovered the mask in 1922, the mask haven´t had his beard put. In 1944, the beard was discovered and finally was sticked with a very hard glue. A very curious thing is that only the beard is 2 kilograms.
