Project start
You can see that this student has broken the project into four chunks. Now the student has to work out how much time each chunk will take to complete.
Breaking your Project into Chunks
This student has allocated time for each chunk of their project, they have chosen to spend most of their time drafting and writing. Everyone’s pie chart will be different, for example, some students may need to allocate more time towards editing if they struggle with spelling. Think about your strengths and weaknesses, which tasks should you be spending the most time on?
To do list...
- Help a friend with an essay
- Revise for next week's science exam
- Prepare for tomorow's presentation
- Go shopping with friends
If you have lots of tasks happening all at once it is a good idea to write them all out in a list. Grab a piece of paper and a pen and write yourself a list. In the next slide we will go through how to prioritise these tasks.
Ask yourself;
Do you have any deadlines close by?
How long will the task take?
How urgent is the task?

Creating a Schedule
Now that we have worked out the prioritised tasks, it is time to place them into our schedule.
Take a look at the entries on the planner. This student has planned specifically what they will study, at what time. They have even scheduled out their breaks. It is important that you are clear with your planning so that it is easy to follow when you come back to it.
