What would a sustainable world look like?
What is Sustainability?
Sustainability means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In addition to natural resources, we also need social and economic resources. Sustainability is not just environmentalism. Embedded in most definitions of sustainability we also find concerns for social equity and economic development.
There are three pillars of sustainability:
While the concept of sustainability is a relatively new idea, the movement as a whole has its roots in social justice, conservationism, internationalism and other historically rich past movements. In the late twentieth century, many of these ideas were brought together in the call for "sustainable development," economically, environmentally, and socially.

À la fin du XXe siècle, nombre de ces idées ont été rassemblées dans l'appel au "développement durable", sur les plans économique, environnemental et social.
