what is an exam

A final examination, annual, exam, "final interview" or final is a test given to students at the end of a course of study or training. Although the term can be used in the context of physical training, it most often occurs in the academic world. Most high schools, colleges, and universities run final exams at the end of a particular academic term, typically a quarter or semester, or more traditionally at the end of a complete degree course.

Exam is a word that most students fear off. A word that has a magic power to change a happy person into a frustrated and nervous one. However, it is a big part of the school that all students have to go through. There are advantages in exams, but there are people who think the opposite that exams have more disadvantages to the students and should be abolished.

Development of confidence and personality: It an aspirant appears an examination he will more confident about from which angle questions are asking and he/she tries to find out the solution how he has to give the answer. Top 4 Countries for Education

The most recent Pisa education rankings, released by the OECD on Wednesday, looked at issues such as students' wellbeing, their sense of belonging, and anxiety levels. And the results suggest the Italian school system is one of the world's most stressful. More than half of Italian pupils said they felt nervous when studying, compared to an OECD average of 37 percent. A vast majority (77 percent) felt nervous when unable to complete a task, compared to an average of 62 percent. And 70 percent felt anxious about tests, even when they had prepared – a figure which was just 56 percent on average across all the countries included – while 86 percent worried about getting poor grades.

Italian schoolkids make friends easily but suffer high anxiety

Italy's schoolchildren get top marks for socializing but suffer from high levels of anxiety, according to an OECD survey investigating student wellbeing in the developed world.

“Schoolwork-related anxiety is one of the main predictors of low life satisfaction among students, and, in Italy, anxiety is more frequent in schools where students study more than 50 hours a week,” noted the study authors. In fact, Italians spend significantly more time studying than their peers in other countries. More than one in five dedicated over 60 hours per week (in and out of school) to their schoolwork, compared to just 13 percent on average across OECD countries.

Final high-school exams and COVID-19

Italy's 2021 high-school final exam, the second in a time of coronavirus.

The exams started on June 16. The oral exam consisted of four parts; it started with the presentation of a dissertation that each student must present on a topic previously approved by the teachers: an “enhanced oral exam” lasting about 60 minutes. The examining board judges consisted of six teachers, members of the class council, and an external president. Approximately 490,000 students too the final exam, comprising internal and external candidates. At all events, this exam is a milestone in the passage from adolescence to adulthood, awaited with anxiety and concern by all students. It remains imprinted in the memory of many of us, and sometimes resurfaces in our dreams (or nightmares) more than any other exam we may have taken. However, during the long period of isolation, a great number of teens came to appreciate the value of forming part of a community. This has been a very important lesson. What they might have taken for granted before COVID-19 they now see as the most valuable asset, namely spending an afternoon with friends, talking, laughing, having a nice time. Some young people needed to experience the absence of human relationships in order to appreciate their value.

"In the years to come, the generations that suffered today will be the ones best equipped to help the next generation"

Science communicator Piero Angela expressed his best wishes to graduating high school students, reminding them of his high school graduation in the postwar years, amidst the rubble and the yearning for recovery. Also today we are going through a “war”, albeit an immaterial one, with more than 120,000 deaths and unseen but burdensome damage in economic, social and psychological terms

What is curiosity?

EASE STRESS BY GETTING CURIOUS

Curiosity is generally defined as the recognition, pursuit, and desire to explore novel, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous events. A study by Merck KGaA highlighted four central components of curiosity:

Curiosity can reduce the downfall of a stressful work environment.

Cultivating curiosity

Stress is a growing concern in organizations that erodes effectiveness and productivity of executives and employees alike. By cultivating curiosity, specifically the attributes of inquisitiveness, openness, creativity, and disruption tolerance, you may find your stress level decreasing as challenges become more achievable.

Developing a practice of curiosity can help ease your stress and anxiety, potentially helping you avoid burnout. This article outlines four ways that curiosity can diffuse stress, and provides practical exercises to encourage curiosity in your work.

study motivation

Motivation feels good, energising, and drives us to get things done. But it doesn’t always come naturally, and we all face challenging or slow periods when motivation feels hard to come by. During these times, we can find it difficult to attend class, complete assignments, or study for exams.
