Our Future Gamification School

Ofek Meoded and Noa Vardi

The different elements of gamification

1. Immersion- storytelling and designing a world that students can relate to and that allows them to explore, grow, and create.2. Achievement- mastery, giving the player the opportunity to learn and practice a skill. We want to encourage repeat trials to reach the level of proficiency without being punitive during the process. 3. Cooperation- Cooperation includes traits like altruism, coordination, coalition building, and grouping or banding together. 4. Competition- allows for players to interact with one another, a draw for social players, it can be a great way to bond as a group and give rise to a more authentic collaboration.

Our school

In our school, the teachers and the students will be playing in order to learn. It will be the first and most important rule.

The Freedom to Choose

Social Interactions

Challenge

Choice

We will challenge the students to overcome their fears of taking a place of a new player. We will help them reach their maximum ability of learning by making them face different types of players forms.

Each student will have the ability to choose which player would they like to play. We'll allow the students to change players according to their curiosity.

We will make sure to use a lot of teamwork and social intercations in our games, so the students will be able to learn fron one another.

The needs of different players

Each player will get the right attention they need according to their positions. We will make sure that each player can do their part during the game, rather it being competitive or the need to work better as a group. As using games for teaching tool, we'll also make sure that each student know their part of the game, in order to help the better teamwork go. Therefore, each player will have to play accordingly to their rule.

Staff and Students

Our school will be a safe place for both the staff and the students. We will call the staff as "referees" of the game, as the students will be called "players". Each player will be a part of a permanent group of players. This way, it'll make the atmosphier in school more competitive, and both the students and the staff will have to play accordingly. Each day, the players, according to their groups, will have to make a short group work to present how do they feel this morning. The purpouse is to be as much as creative as possible (it can be by dance, song, photos, or act). During the day, there will be double lessons for each subject, where the students firstly learn the material theoretically, and then they'll have to play in order for the staff to see their understanding.

The place of English

What should we learn?

In order to make English studies more interesting and fun to be taught, the students will have to come with new subjects that they would like to learn. They will pick a subject that the teacher will suggest for them, related to their needs, and so, the teacher will prepear the right materials for their next lesson.

The process of learning

For the next lesson, the teacher will come up to the lesson with the materials that have been prepered. As said, first, the students will learn theoretically, and then, will play a game related to the subject that the teacher taught. In order to make sure the students indeed understood, the teacher will ask them to create a new game, and present to the class the rules between 5-7, using different tools and places that the students can play.

Thanks!
