Yr achos dros newid: gweithio gyda chymunedau

Gall gweithio gyda chymunedau dalu ar ei ganfed a bod yn broses gynaliadwy a buddiol i bawb. Mae gan brosiectau a gweithgareddau botensial mawr i gefnogi llesiant cymunedol. Gallant hefyd fynd i’r afael â bylchau mewn cymdeithas a gwasanaethau cymunedol. Mae llawer o ddulliau newydd ac ystyrlon o ran helpu cymunedau a chryfderau, gwybodaeth, sgiliau a pherthnasoedd y bobl, a chymorth ar y cyd mewn ffyrdd ymarferol a phositif.Mae cyrff cyhoeddus a sefydliadau cymorth yn asesu ac yn gofyn i gymunedau beth sydd ei angen arnynt. Er hyn, mae tystiolaeth yn dangos nad ydynt yn aml yn archwilio nac yn deall beth sydd ei angen ar gymunedau i helpu i weithredu hyn. Nid yw’r sefydliadau hyn yn cydnabod bob amser sut y gall cymunedau fod yn bartneriaid effeithiol. Mae Deddf Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol a Llesiant (Cymru) 2014 yn rhoi cyfrifoldeb statudol ar wasanaethau cyhoeddus a phartneriaid i ddatblygu gwasanaethau sy’n hyrwyddo lles unigolion. Mae hyn fel bod modd i bobl fyw’n annibynnol yn eu cymunedau eu hunain. Yn hyn o beth, mae angen i wasanaethau cyhoeddus a phartneriaid weithio gyda’r gymuned, a defnyddio ei chryfderau i helpu i greu gwasanaethau a gweithgareddau sy’n helpu unigolion i ffynnu heb wasanaethau targedig. Mae’r ddogfen hon yn egluro sut i adeiladu cymunedau, gweithio a siarad gyda nhw.

The case for change: working with communities

Working with communities can be rewarding, sustainable and beneficial for everyone. Projects and activities have huge potential to support community well-being. They can also help join up gaps in society and community services. There are lots of ways to help communities use their knowledge, skills, relationships and support networks in practical and positive ways.Public bodies and support organisations assess and ask communities what they need. But evidence shows they don’t usually explore or understand what communities need to help make this happen. These organisations don’t always recognise how communities can be effective partners. The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 makes public services and partners responsible for developing services that prioritise individual well-being. This is so individuals can live independently in their own communities. Public services and partners need to work with the community, and use its strengths to help create services and activities that help individuals thrive without targeted services. This document explains how to build, work with and talk with communities.

Who is this for?

This guide is for people who want to understand and work with communities to develop ideas, partnerships and projects. It’s designed to be used by people who work for public bodies. This includes councils, health boards and support organisations who want to work with communities.

Who created it and why?

‘Working with communities’ was created by Social Care Wales and the Community Resourcefulness Partnership. We used information from an action research project to help write it. The project tested a community resourcefulness framework in two Welsh communities. This guide has been shaped by what communities think and what we know works.
