Theme

Often times one may find themself, filled with instabilities and insecurities in one hour, and discover the best and brightest version of themselves in another. Likewise I felt divided between myself--heights of emotion and the depths of pain all in one day--but in either worlds I found versions of myself for the better or worse.

"First Nassau Band Rehearsal / Second Nassau Band Rehearsal" by Tim Simonec(1:34)

Family Friendly

Composed in the Movie Whiplash, the song "First Nassau Band Rehearsal..." portrays the erratic and undirected life of the main antagonist. Likewise, I felt a struggle to maintain a certain direction or even know where to go with my life at certain times. The sudden change of tempo and upbeat choruses reproduce just that same experience.

"Calling My Phone" by Lil Tjay, 6LACK(3:25)

EXPLICIT

In "Calling My Phone", artists Lil Tjay and 6LACK perfectly potray the sorrows and emptiness beyond one's smile. Hiding is easy, as it was for me, especially behind a mascerade of a simple smile which deceived others that all was alright and "fine". Slow and steady, the beat lays down a cold memory of an empy line and life.

"Outside (Better Days)" by Blueface, Og Bobby Billions(2:29)

EXPLICIT

As said by Blueface, "I aint pray for these Baguettes, I prayed for Better Days", in response to the times which we all as people didn't receive what we had in minfe. On more than just a few occasions, it seemed conflict could be found almost everywhere in my life. And no one better to replicate these moments than esteemed aritst Blueface of a hardened and dark upbringing.

"The Scientist" by Coldplay(5:10)

Family Friendly

Coldplay' s song captures the lyrics of a one sided conversation within a broken relationship. Even without the fact of someone else's presence, it often felt as if I had a great barrier between other people I tried to understand. The song itself reveals an array of emotions felt in a time so far away.

"Something Just Like This" by The Chainsmokers, Coldplay(4:07)

Family Friendly

In a time of isolation and self-reflection one finds the best of imagination in their own time. I found that it was within the corners of my room, where I could invite the creativty and intuition to unfold. From thought to paper, without a single other soul, memories were made headphones in and noise tuned out.

"Wishing For A Hero" by Polo G, ft. BJ The Chicago Kid(3:04)

EXPLICIT

Polo G's struggles within a violent and dangerous neighborhood may not share the exact same experiences, but reflect similar emotions. It is not uncommon that one questions their childhood, what comes and what is to come, and yet even what is beyond their control is. The basis of all curosity for me, were the why's and how's in spite of "that's just how the way it is" (Polo G).

"Down Below" by Roddy Rich(3:44)

EXPLICIT

Who can say that they, in their darkest of moments or depths of pain, have been open to share such experiences? Down Below, although also very different in experience, portrays very exact emotions in seemingly unending times of trouble. The underdog, underachieved, underappreciated, yet all under someone else's circumstances felt but the same in my own way.

"Word On The Street" by Lil Baby(2:53)

EXPLICIT

Lil Baby's persona of the solo but esteemed underdog echoes in a tune similar to my own. Faced with hate, disappointment, and dissaproval, "Word On The Street" beautifully plays a melody true to my own life. Although not of the same streets or neighborhoods, it is not far from saying we've walked the same tarnished roads and rubbled paths in life.

"HUMBLE." by Kendrick Lamar(2:57)

EXPLICIT

The soloist, main protaginst of the stage and their own life, who wouldn't be envious or atleast curious? As a teenager, it can only be said with truth that walking through experiences on my own felt like a right more than a privelege. But to learn to be humble and lead by the hand of others, proved to be a more of a challenge.

Family Friendly

"Wake Me Up" by Avicii(4:07)

As said beforehand, to be led is not always the easiest journey even with the most experienced of mentors. To learn to submit and understand the knowledge of my superiors, in order to progress and succeed, "wakes" me up into a completely new perspective. But also leaves me with a responsibility to a personal legacy I would be proud to lead others with as well.

Family Friendly

"The Nights" by Avicii(2:57)

The illusion, that we are asleep and lost, only to be waken up as a new person and found in a life rings in my own life. Finding new hobbies, experiences, people, and even new songs brings new knowledge to enlighten me. Knowing each day is vastly different, but collective times where I would discover more of myself.

Family Friendly

"Sogno di Volare (The Dream of Flight)" by Christopher Tin(3:53)

The dream of flight, made possible through two brothers, surpassed the limit of the sky itself. This certain song unlocks the "sky's the limit" phrase, and reveals more within me ready to take flight. One could even mention that the majestic orchestral composition might actually compell one to fly.

EXPLICIT

"RAPSTAR" by Polo G(2:46)

"RAPSTAR" takes the perspective of a troubled teen, brought up in a hostile and unforgiving environment, rising to fame and fortune. Regardless of the goals, Polo G makes evident of his success regardless of previous circumstances. Despite completely opposite domains, our goals in life propelled by constant work ethic and unyielding perserverance are what evens us.

EXPLICIT

"Congratulations" by Post Malone, Quavo(3:21)

The classic underdog to success story, despite all factors against the protagonist and for the opposition. Congtratulations brings the celebration to light, even in unrelenting times of conflicting factors of life. Even in great failure, I realized that the great successes of one's life is likewise a time of reflection and consideration.

EXPLICIT

"Twin Nem" by King Von, Lil Durk(2:56)

King Von paints a vivid picture of the importance of action in response to physical opposition and other rivalries. It painted a clear picture of how, with sufficient experience of my own and others, that one cannot simply be held back even in the face of dispair and antagonization. In other words, the time to take action can only be evident to be now, with or without moral and mutual support.

EXPLICIT

"Invincible" by Pop Smoke(2:08)

At the ripe age of 17, one feels the entry into a new prime and a different person. I can only say that in times which emotions run high, one may or may not feel the very powerful urge of being "Invincible". Which may or may not change within the next 10-20 years, but Invincible we are now.

EXPLICIT

"WHAT'S MY NAME" by City Morgue, ZillaKami, SosMula(1:53)

It is said, we as humans experience two deaths; the death of our body and the death of our name. As understood by many, To die forgotten is to die forever, but to die in remembrance is to live forever. The fear to be forgotten is a fear beyond death, a smaller fear of my own.

EXPLICIT

"Graduation" by Benny Blanco, Juice WRLD(2:28)

What happens after, after highschool, after college, after the after? Graduation holds a pause before the end, the question held by many faced before the start of a new beginning. Yet to be answered in another end, in another time. Likewise, the song is shortened in order to replicate the ending, an ending made to be discovered and interpreted.

Family Friendly

"Circles" by Post Malone(3:08)

Even at the end of the what may seem to be the end of all, is the beginning of many similar encounters. To be going in circles, or as it seems, is present in many experiences of my own life. As one starts, one begins, but perhaps bends in a similar way. Cut to a shorter time, the song when looped at this exact time feels as if it never started or will end at all.

Dedication

In whatever pursuit it may be from now, may it be pursued in full.

For their future and what it holds, that it be a light beyond my own understanding. Until the end.

To the future me

To the Team
