Racial Issue & Relation

The setting of the advertisement is a clinic, where the light-skinned female claimed that the bear could go through a gradual process of 10.4 million weeks to become "white", implying that it was impossible, as no mammal could live that long.

With these shown, it also implies that the dark-skinned people will also be forever looked down upon by the fair-skinned. Thus, by demonstrating superiority and inferiority of skin color, it was clear that a racial issue lies within the advertisement.

Standpoint

• living organisms are born without the freedom of choice to select Their Skin Color
• the ad does not encourage originality of an existing living organism
• The ad is disrespectful without reasonable logic
• conveys that having “black” skin is inferior to “white” skin, it reveals a poor reputation of the company - insensitive
• While the company finds the color “black” of poor quality in comparison to the color “white”, there are people all over the world who would like the color black, so long as it is not the color of skin.

JUSTIFICATION

• The main way to improve the advertisement is to not include skin colour as a factor to promote the product.

• Using a mixture of people with different skin complexions and promote unity amongst them

• Promote the other factors the products bring other than brightening (softening etc)

• Exclude the involvement of the brown bear
