The Preschool Classroom: Thoughtful Layout

An environment that is intentionally created with developmentally appropriate practice in mind will serve to assist with learning and classroom management. Early childhood educational environment should encourage engagement, stimulate learning and promote growth in all areas of development. Children are active learners who learn by interacting with the environment so a large portion of their day should be spent learning through play.

Furniture can be arranged to create separate, well-defined centers in the classroom. Noisy centers should be separated from the quiet centers.
