It's a cinematographic genre that involves a lot of themes like space, aliens, robots, superheroes… It tries to build stories in other realities with imagined elements and normally giving us a catastrophic view of the future, usually using science and futuristic technology and adding action and fantasy.

The adventures of these films usually happen in the interior of a spaceship and it also involves futuristic technology and science, parallel universes and space exploration.

This subgenre uses the concept of moving between two points in the time, this subgenre typically uses a device to move between these two points in time and space, known as a “time machine”.

SUBGENRES

This subgenre is the result of frustrated scientists, nuclear havoc and mad chemists. These robots and monsters, normally, those destroy cities and kill lots of people.

This subgenre causes the terror on the Earth, normally this is did it by a natural disaster: big earthquake, tornados, hurricane, volcanous… . Also did it by an extraterrestrial invasion, they have more technology than us and destroy the cities, they want to replace our lives and devour us.

This subgenre involves science fiction and action. It shows us the history, the adventures, and the characteristics of the superhero, which is someone that possesses superhuman powers. Most of these films are adaptations of comics that by their popularity were finally brought to the big screen.
