Criteria of Sport in 1900s

Criteria of a sport now

Modern criteria is more detailed. 1900 criteria has the role of an established foundation that has been built on throughout the years

No official criteria of a sport.Four common criteria:

  • Events should be international
  • Handicap events should not be allowed
  • No restriction to any class of competitors prohibiting them to play
  • Amateurism must be present within an event

• A professional sport must have an element of competition • A professional sport should require physical exertion • A professional sport should have sufficient organisation and co-ordination by an organisation or something similar • A professional sport should not have class/national/etc. restrictions and should promote equality.
