Benefits in the Classroom

Genially is guranteed to increase student's motivation to learn and active engagement. Genially's interactive features can transform any lesson into an interactive presentation tool, gamified quiz, or breakout room challenge to encourage students active participation in lessons and checks for understnading. Choice Boards & Playlists

With Genially, you can create interactive choice boards and playlists to give students agency in their leanring. You can easily differentiate boards/playlists to share with specific students with Genially's copy feature. Genially integrates with Canvas & Google Classroom, making it easy for students to access.

Breakouts

Genially provides several templates for creating digital breakout/escpae rooms. Start with a template to review the multiple layers, edit the content to fit your needs, and share the link with students!

Gamification

Signing Up for Genially & Educator Plans

Genially is a "freemium" service, meaning you can use the basic features for free or pay a small yearly premium for advanced features such as unlimited templates, private share links, and the ability to import PowerPoint files.

Starting from Scratch

Begin any Genially creation from a blank template by selecting Blank creation from the create panel on your Genially dashboard.

Using Templates

Select the type of product you wish to create from the create panel on the dashboard to view a surplus of templates to guide you in creating interactive media. Within each broad category you can select a subcategory and narrow your search or filter the results by using the drop down menu at the top of the page.

Adding Text

Add a text box to a template or blank creation by clicking Text on the sidebar. Select from a variety of formats and text sets that can all be formatted to your liking.

Adding Images

Click the Image button on the sidebar to add images to your creation. Search through images from a cutout library, Pixabay, or Giphy. You can also upload images using an image link or from your computer, Google Drive, or Dropbox.

Resources

Click the Resources button on the sidebar to add shapes, clip art, graphs and more to your Genially creation. Resource categories include: Icons, Shapes, Graphs & Charts, Lines & Arrows, Illustrations, Scenes, Maps, and Silhouettes.

Interactive Elements

The Interactive elements menu is where you will find buttons, markers, and social network icons that can be added to your Genially creation. Interactive elements can be used to show interactive spots within your creation for viewers to click on. Some interactive elements are animated by default & while the animation cannot be removed, additional animation can be added.

Smartblocks

Find predesigned elements to beautify your Genially creation by clicking on the Smartblocks button on the sidebar. With Smartblocks, everything is done for you, all you need to do is substitute the content with your own and edit and adjust the size to fit your template.

From the Insert menu on the sidebar you can audio, video, and other external content to your Genially creation.

Backgrounds

There are two types of backgrounds in Genially, there is the canvas background which is the area within the light gray rectangle and there is the base background which is everything outside of the gray rectangle. Both backgrounds can be changed using the background button on the sidebar.
