Postcards for Grandma

English Castle

South Coast Aquarium

Hi! I'm Benjamin and I'm eleven. This is my little sister Lily. She's only four. We live in the USA, but right now we're on vacation in England in the UK. We're here with our parents for two weeks. I always write postcards to our grandma when we travel because she can't come with us. I've written three so far. Would you like to read them?

Historic Castle

Hi Grandma! How are you? We've been in England for three days now. We're staying with mom's cousin and she's shown us lots of fun places. It's been rainy every day, but I don't mind. Today we went on a tour of a castle. Have you ever been to a castle? The tour guide told us all about it. She said the castle was 500 years old and some people have seen ghosts there - scary! Lily loved exploring all the rooms. She tried to talk to the knights, but they didn't talk back! Love, Benjamin

Natural History Museum

Dear Grandma, So much has happened since the last time I wrote! We're in London now and yesterday we went to the Natural History Museum. There were dinosaurs and mammoths and people from thousands of years ago. Have you ever seen a dinosaur? I couldn’t believe how big they were! Lily was very naughty. She tried to climb on a dinosaur when no one was looking, but the tour guide caught her. Tonight, we're going to the theater to see a show - I'm so excited! Love, Benjamin

Seaside Aquarium

Dear Grandma, Have you ever been to an aquarium? We went to one this morning. It was amazing! I've always wanted to see sharks and now I have. I would have swum with them, but Dad said no. I asked the guide why there weren’t any whales and he said whales shouldn't be in aquariums, because the pools are too small. Lily was disappointed that there weren't any mermaids, but Dad said maybe they're like whales and need to be free. Can't wait to see you! We've taken loads of photos to show you. Love, Benjamin
