THE POVERTY IN SOUTH AFRICA
Since 1994, South Africa has made significant progress in reducing absolute poverty by implementing a system of providing social benefits to pensioners, the disabled and children.
Nonetheless, South Africa performs well on only some aspects of well-being, compared with most other countries surveyed in the Better Life Index.
THE LEGACY OF APARTHEID
Since 1995 there is a single national education system, when Nelson Mandela became thepresident of South Africa, but the heavy legacy of apartheid is still deeply rooted and evident in the field of education, especially in rural areas.
Nelson Mandela was born in South Africa in 1918. He adopted a policy of paceful against apartheid. In 1964 he was sentenced to life in prison. in 1990 the president of South Africa free Nelson Mandela after 27 year in prison. In 1993 the president and Mandela were both the Nobe Peace Prize. In 1994 all races voted in democratic elections. Mandela was elected and he died in 2013.
A LOT OF DISEQUALITY
The rainbow country is the most umequal in the world, first among 164 countries, where, 30 years after the end of apartheid, the "race" factor still has a dominant role in the economy, education and welfare.
A role that has exaggerated the gap between the very rich and the poor and with this, of course, access to services such as health care, education and work
GENDER DISEQUALITY
Gender also plays an important role. In the area in question, women earn on average 30% less than men with the same level of education.
