The story begins the day he is kicked out of Pencey, his school Holden tells us that the announcement of the school is not what they promised and seeing how the personality of the character is (page 4)
The book begins when Holden, the protagonist, from the residence in which he is decided to start telling us the history of past Christmas. He also tells us about his brother D.B, who is in Hollywood.(pag 3)

Holden decides not to wait until Wednesday and decides to leave, packs his suitcase and calls them idiots (pag35) (pag 36)
Holden wonders if they really slept being very worried and imagining many things since Jane is someone very important in Holden's life, is Holden probably in love? (page 33)
They argue and fight and holden hurts himself and goes to sleep in Ackley's room by the essay and because he thinks he went to bed with Jane(pag 32)
Stradlater finally arrives and reads the composition while undressing; the theme of the composition seems to him somewhat ridiculous and he gets angry at Holden, so Holden takes the composition and tears it up.(pag 30)
Holden chooses his brother Allie's baseball glove as his essay subject. What is very important and something that Holden wants very much And he uses it for important occasions (page 27)
Holden tells us about the dinner in school the Saturdays and after that dinner goes with Ackley and evil to eat hamburgers(pag26)
Stradlater goes out with Jane, Holden believes that Jane is the love of his life and is very excited(pag 24)
Holden accompanies Stradlater to the washes since Holden has nothing else to do and he asks Holden to do an essay for the literature class here we realize how smart Holden is for those things (page 21)

holden goes down to the party room where he asks for alcohol but he is a minor, he sees 3 girls and asks them to dance and sees that they are silly and feels sorry(pag 49,50,51)
Holden tells us about his sister Phoebe and his family. He thinks he's the dumbest in my opinion. Holden is quite intelligent and has good reasoning, only he doesn't put it into practice only in bad things (page 46).
Look out the window and look at a man daring as a woman and a couple fighting and want to call Jane but ends up calling a friend who rejects him(pag 43,44,45)
Holden arrives and wants to call someone but finally takes a taxi with whom he has a strange conversation and arrives at the hotel.(pag 41,42,43)

the club is full of university idiots as Holden tells them, Holden meets a friend and girlfirned of his brother D.BLllian but decides to leave(pag 58)
Holden in the taxi has an argument because the driver thinks Holden is dumb for his questions which are really dumb about ducks but they give a lot to talk about. (page 55)

At the theater, Holden buys tickets for I Know My Love, a play starring the Lunts. Holden knew that Sally would enjoy the show because it is a sophisticated show starring well-known stars.(pag78,79)
Before meeting Sally Hayes, Holden goes to buy Phoebe a record called “Little Shirley Beans by Estelle Fletcher. As he walks through town, Holden overhears a poor little boy playing with his parents, singing a song that goes "If body catches body, when they go through the Rye.This song makes Holden feel less depressed.(pag 76,75)
Holden Caulfield, a 16-year-old New Yorker who has just been expelled from Pencey Prep, his high school. It is narrated in the voice of Holden, a young man who has been characterized by having poor results in his studies (he had already been expelled from several schools) and who believes that most people are "fake", with a few exceptions, such as his ex-girlfriend Jane Gallaher, whom he remembers for much of the narrative. Also highlighted is the great love he feels for his siblings, one of whom, Allie, is dead.
