Good morning/afternoon, my name is XXX. I'm an anaesthesist/a nurse member of the anesthesia care team.

Bonjour, je m'appelle XXX. Je fais partie de l'équipe d'anesthésie.

Je dois vous poser qqs questions avant le bloc.

I have a few questions to ask you just to make sure before we go the the operating room.

5. OPERATING ROOM

Operating room

I am going to inject you some drugs to put you to sleep. I'll stay with you during surgery.

Je vais injecter des produits pour vous endormir. Je resterai avec vous pendant l'opération

Je vous réveillerai lorsque l'opération sera terminée. Vous irez dans la salle de réveil.

I'll wake you up when surgery is finished. You'll go in the recovery room.

Regional anesthesia

We're going to give you an epidural anaesthetic (i.e. we'll inject anaesthetic through the space between two vertebras).

Nous allons faire une péridurale (cad injecter un produit anesthésique en passant entre 2 vertèbres).

Vous n'aurez plus de sensibilité à partir du nombril, mais elle reviendra progressivement après l'intervention.

You'll go numb below the navel, but this will wear off gradually after the operation. Some people do get headaches then, but everything will be back to normal within a few hours.

·Certaines personnes ont parfois des maux de tête mais tout rentre dans l'ordre après quelques heures.
