A pantomime is a British tradition of comedy theatre based on traditional children's stories. It has: - Slapstick: clown style humor with exagerated physical actions. It is very funny! - Music: famous songs with funny lyrics. - Cross-dressing: there is always a "dame", a man dressed up as an extravagant woman. - Contemporary references. - Audience participation
Staging: In a pantomime the good characters enter from stage right (côté jardin) and the bad characters enter from stage left (côté cour). This dates back to medieval times when the right side of the stage symbolised heaven and the left side symbolised hell.
