The story

This film talks about a poor guy, Phineas T. Barnum that has a dream: he want to open a circus. Phineas loves Charity, a rich girl. Her parents dont't want to let she marries Phineas. When Barnum grows up, he manages to marry Charity, but they are very poor. They have two little girls, that give to their father an idea: an alive circus! Phineas engages all the peoples that, in that society, are considered like animals or things because they are different between the "normal" population. New York's populaton loves the circus, but some journalists don't like it. Phineas meets Philip Carlyle, a rich man with some scandals. Barnum proposes to Carlyle to become buisness partners and Philip accepts. Philip loves the trapeze artist Anne. After, Phineas meets the singer Jenny Lind and they go on a tour in Russia. The tour goes very well, but the circus at New York isn't good. Jenny loves Phineas, but he tell her that he has a family. She locks the tour but in the last show, she kisses him. The kiss is on all the newspapers, so Charity returns with her daugthers on her parents' house. Phineas goes to Charity and he apologizes, so she returns in New York. In this moment, the circus burns and Philip saves Anne from fire but he's intoxicated by the smoke. When Philip is ok, they make a new circus, in a tent. The show is loved by all the peoples and Phineas can stays with his family.

Favourite character

My favourite character is Charity Barnum. She's my favourite character bacause she chooses to marry a poor man when she can marries a richer one. When she discovered that her husband betrayed her with miss Lind, after Phineas apologized, she forgave him. In the film, she's intrepretated by Michelle Williams.

Music

My favourite song in the film is "This is me". It's sing by Keala Settle. I love this song because it has a good message and i think it has a beautiful music. I like its music because it starts with a malchonic sound, but at the end, it becomes happy anf full of energy.

Picture

This picture is called "The blue circus" and it was painted by Marc Chagall in 1950. I think it's a perfect rapresentation of the circus because it has a lot of colours, people and, when you watch it, you feel that you are in a circus. In the middle, there is a dancer in a yellow dress that is dancing on a white horse. In the lower part, there is a man. I think he's the presentator or the director of the circus. In the left part, there is a big donkey. At right, two equilibrists are in balance one on each other.

Chagall was jew and he borned in Belarus. He had adifficult life beause his orgins are dangerous when he's young and when he's an adult. He married Bella Rosenfeld but when she died, he married Valentina "Vavà" Bronsky. He died when he was 97 years old in Saint-Paul-de-Vence in 1985.
