how to save WATER?

Change your diet. It takes a lot of water to grow, process and transport your food. Eat more vegetables and less meat.

When you brush your teeth, use a glass of water to rinse. Do not keep the tap on!

The average bath uses about 150 litres of water,so take a shower instead.

Spend less time in the shower. Try to keep it under 5 minutes.

Toilets are the main source of water use in the home, accounting for about 24% of an average home's indoor water consumption.

Get a low-flow toilet. Older, conventional toilets can use 9 to 12 litres per flush, but low-flow models use as little as 6 litres.

Put a plastic bottle filled with water or sand in your toilet cisternto reduce the amount of water used per flush.

Don’t flush things (tissues or other bathroom waste) down the toilet. Throw them in the bin.

Practice “If it’s yellow, let it mellow.”If you’re grossed-out by the “yellow,” just put the toilet lid down.

Use your washing machine only when it’s full to save water.

Wash your jeans less – washing them a lot will wear them out more quickly. You can air them out or even put themin the freezer to freshen them up.

Wash all your clothes less. You don’t need to wash most of your clothes as often as you probably do.

Water- and energy-efficient dishwashers use much less water (15 litres)than washing dishes by hand does (more than 50 litres).

If you wash by hand, don't let the water run. Fill the sink with hot water for washing and use cold water for rinsing.

Collect rainwater and use it to water your garden.

Use two buckets of water and a sponge to wash your car.One bucket has soapy water and one bucket has clean water for rinsing.

Don’t keep the tap running until water gets cold. Fill up a water bottle and keep it in the fridge.

Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap.

Can you think of any other water-saving tips?
