If + present simple, present simpleWe use zero conditional to talk about general truths, scientific facts, things that do not normally change under certain conditions.If you heat water up to 100ºC, it boils.

third conditional

If + present simple, will + base form / can/may + base form / imperative We use first conditional to talk about possible (likely to happen) present or future situations and their consequences. If I finish my homework early, I'll help you with yours.

If + past simple, would/could/might + base form We use second conditional to talk about hypothetical situations in the present or future and their consequences. If I had more time, I would help you with your homework.

If + past perfect, would/could/might + have + past participle We use third conditional to talk about hypothetical situations in the past and their consequences. They are impossible to happen. If I had finished my homework earlier, I would have helped you with yours.
