History of Judo

-was created in 1882 -old martial arts schools -became an educational system, for physical and moral activity -to throw, either to bring the opponent to the ground and immobilise him or force him to give up using joint locks and chokes

He practised Jujitsu for a long time before seeing the little thing which will make him invent the Judo.

Jigoro Kano (1860-1938)

Jujitsu = the art of the fight used by the samurais in the hand-to-hand fight. And so was born the Judo, literally : the " Way of the Flexibility ".

The Ranks

-There are intermediate ranks young Judokas for their merit, or for other reasons. -These intermediate ranks = belts which alternate the colors of the rank of the Judoka and the next rank

-For black belt = Kata (Nage No Kata), an enchainement of techniques to be carried out without faults. -the black belt = the Judoka have a good experience of the competition.

The Technical Judo

We can classify techniques in two categories :

- The techniques of projection, to put the opponent on the ground

- The techniques of control allowing to maintain the opponent in a position which it is difficult to him to leave.

An example of technique of sacrifice : Tomoe-Nage, say " the Japanese small board ".

-the most successful judoka in history in the heavyweight category -ten world titles

-won 5 European and 4 French titles -won the World Masters 4 times and the Grand Slam 6 times -won two French team championships with Levallois Sporting Club and once the European Club Cup.
