WELCOME TO BRASILSDG 1 indicators
One of the indicators is the proportion of population which earns less than $1.90 per day international and national. Another index for poverty is poor health, lack of education, inadequate living standard, lack of income, disempowerment, poor quality of work and threat from violence because poverty usually leads to these factors. Furthermore you can measure the proportion of total government spending on essential services.
START
The following chart shows the share of population who lives in extreme poverty, that means people who earn less than $1.90 per day. It’s obvious that the highest amount of poverty can be found in Africa for example almost 80% of the people living Madagascar and the Democratic Republic of Congo earn less than $1.90. In South Asia about 15% of the population lives in similar circumstances. In comparison it’s striking that the extreme poverty rate in the United States and Europe is under 1%. For example France and Germany exhibit no extreme poverty rate (0%).
