Play
The verb play is used for ball sports or when 2 or more people are playing against each other (e.g. chess). Das Verb "play" wird für Ballsportarten verwendet, oder wenn mindestens 2 Menschen gegeneinander spielen (bsp. Schach).
Go

do
The verb "do" is used for sports without a ball or without a team. It is also used for fighting sports. Das Verb "do" wird für Sportarten ohne einen Ball oder ohne ein Team verwendet. Es wird aber auch für Kampfsportarten verwendet.
