The first shop they entered

Gatsby and Nick Carraway enter in a barber shop to go to a speakeasy. They meet Mister Mile Wood Sha, who is in the barber when they arrive. This last knocks the door to enter in the speakeasy.

The relation between the three main characters

When Gatsby and his friend, Nick Carraway, enter, they meet the Gatsby's best friend, Mister Mile Wood Sha. This last nicknames Gatsby "My Boy". Next, Gatsby introduces Nick Carraway to Mile Wood Sha.

The place of women

In the speakeasy, some women are dancing and are entertaining the men, others are catering the men. So they have a place in the labour market and they have a job and an income.

The atmosphere of the speakeasy

The speakeasy is very raucous and crowed. The people speak loudly and there is music. The people who attend the speakeasy are drinking, so a lot of people are drunk, happy and they laugh very loud. For example, a commissioner makes fun of the law, he says "you are under arrest". When the three main characters enter in the speakeasy, we can see two men who fight themselves, so they are fired of the speakeasy. The speakeasy are dark because it is underground (the main characters down stairs to enter) so there is a mysterious atmosphere.

In spite of the prohibition, the violence and the crime were not reduced, there is an increase of illegal trafic and speakeasies so the bootleggers enriched one self. Indeed, in this movie, we can see a speakeasy whith barmen who caters alcohol. All people who are in the speakeasy are holding alcohol's glasses.
