Forces
50N
60N
Forces act on an object and in diagrams, are shown by arrows. Force is measured in Newtons (N). If one of the forces is greater, the object will accelerate in that direction. If the object is already moving but the opposite force becomes greater, the object will deccelerate. In the diagram above, the force on the right is greater, so the object will move in that direction. That force is the 'Resultant' force.
Energy Stores
- Kinetic Energy - An object has this energy store when it is moving
- Elastic potential - When an object has been stretched out of form
- Gravtitational potential - the energy stored in an object as the result of its vertical position or height
- Electrical Energy - energy caused by moving electric charges
- Thermal Energy - the energy that is generated and measured by heat
- Chemical Energy - stored in the bonds of chemical compounds, like atoms and molecules
