introduction :

British humour IS ESSENTIAL IN THE ENGLISH PEOPLE'S LIFE, IT'S A UNIQUE TYPE OF HUMOUR AND IS DIFFERENT THAN OTHER COUNTRY. yOU MAY BE A little bit confused when you first hear hit because of how subtle and sometimes used in situations we won't usually use humour. British people are really proud of their humour and are aware that if you're not british you won't automatically understand it . It makes them feel unique and bring them back together. As we said, you may not understand every aspect of british humour and miss some really good jokes (that would be a shame but we're here to help you) so we made this guide to help you understand the wonderfull world of british humour.

introduction:

different types of humour are used in the uk :

  • Different types of humour can be observed in conversations between british people, that makes the british humour more complicated and rich. they are:
  • Self deprecation
  • Deadpan
  • Dark humour
  • Irony.

Self deprecation:

self deprecation is making jokes about yourself, being too modest and degrading yourself in a funny way.

  • Even oscar wilde used self deprecating jokes back then.

self deprecation is used since forever, it's a very curent type of humour.

  • Self deprecation is fun because it's easier to make fun of yourself than other people and you make people laugh while being sure you don't hurt them besause the jokes are about you.
  • You might wonder why someone would make fun of his own self and why would it be funny in any way. But some people find it very amusing and easy to make.

deapan :

  • The word deadpan comes from the 1920' slung when "pan" was used to describe an emotionless face.

Deadpan is telling a joke with a dead serious face. It's saying somethiong really funny and keeping a straight face.

It's funny because you can say the stupidest thing and look so serious and it can be sometimes hard to understand if the people doing deadpan are joking or not. they're confused and it's even more funny.

dark humor :

Dark humour is a really controversial topic, some people don't like because they feel like it's making fun of serious issues. Some other people think it's a good way of making people aware of the wolrd's biggest issues because they don't always pay attention to the news and don't feel concerned about some things that they should be . As you understood, dark humour is talking about serious topics and using humour to warn people. It needs to be really subtle and well done to be good or it could be taken the wrong way and be offensive.Russel Howard and Jimmy Carr are well known for their dark humor and light up serious situations in their comedy.
