- Half of the architecture school graduates are women but less than 20% are licensed architects in the workforce
- Wage disparities, a lack of female mentorship, negative perceptions of female leaders in the field, a lack of work-life balance, and a need for childcare are all factors contributing to this disparity.

lack of female mentors
Mentors play an important role in assisting new graduates to achieve success
A mentor will help you get past rookie mistakes, develop networks, and boost self-esteem. Women are underrepresented in high-level architectural positions, which means that young female architects have fewer potential mentors.
Lack of fAMILY sUPPORT
Having children remains a key issue for women in architecture. Having children is also likely to reduce opportunities than other employers. This leads to women taking off time from work and focusing on the baby.
Working long hours
The average hours that architects work per day range from 8 to 10 hours. However, many architects are required to work for longer hours to due in project demands. Women leave architecture because they can't deal with long hours and other commitment.

- As women witness other women advancing in the field, they tend to feel inspired to continue in this profession.
- There is also urgent need to find solutions to accomodate raising children and career advancement.
- These actions can be taken by any profession to ensure fair treatment and equal opportunity, preventing losing highly skilled women to other jobs, and make working in architecture a more positive choice for everyone.
