What is centre of mass,Levers,Torque and Axes of rotation
What is Centre of mass?
The center of mass is a position defined relative to an object or system of objects. It is the average position of all the parts of the system, weighted according to their masses For example, the centre of mass for humans is the belly button
How centre of mass affects performance
Here we have tottenham keeper hugo lorris peforming a diving safe using centre of mass to his advantage.
+ info
What is levers?
A lever is a rigid object that is used with an axis to either multiply the mechanical force (effort) or resistance force (load) applied to it. The efficiency of the lever is called mechanical advantage (MA). The greater the mechanical advantage, the less effort required.
There are 3 types of levers as you can see above
What is torque?
Torque is the ability of a force to cause rotation on a lever (moment of force).
+ info
What are axes of rotation and plane of movements?
axes of rotation are a straight line around which an object rotates. There are three axes of rotation: frontal • saggital • longitudinal There is also three planes of movement which are saggital • frontal • transverse
+ info
How different types of levers and axes of rotation are used together to perform a sporting activity
An example of levers and axes of rotation working alongside each other is in football when an athlete goes to kick a ball.
Analysing How Different Types of Levers and Changes in The Centre of Mass Combine to Affect Performance in Trampolining
