Celie dismisses the thought that she is "a good girl," suggesting she believes she is to blame for her father's rape. She wonders if she has done something wrong for her to be treated this way. This shows her youth and innocence.

"Now that I know Albert hiding Nettie's letters, I know exactly where they is."

This is Celie's first act of defiance, and it stems from her love for Nettie. It is the first sense of Celie's fight relighting and beginning to take a stand for herself.

Celie verbally fights against Mr -, stating her and Shug are leaving to Memphis. She finally takes her independence.

Celie opens her own shop, making pants and profiting off the creative ability she has always had. She is now independent with her own company, fulfilling her dreams.
