What is a simile?
A simile compares two things using the words 'like' or 'as'. A simile describes something by comparing it to something else, using like or as. A simile is a useful way to describe something without using a long list of adjectives. It can help to create a vivid and interesting image in the reader’s mind, helping to engage them. Examples: As blind as a bat As crafty as a fox As black as coal As fit as a fiddle She swims like a dolphin It was growing like a weed He could hear like an owl
