-ED & -ING ADJECTIVES

Many adjectives for feelings have two possible forms, either ending in -ed or -ing. For example: motivated and motivating.

  • We use the adjective ending in -ed for the person who has the feeling.(I was very frustrated that I couldn't swim in the lake).
  • We use the adjective ending in -ing for a person or situation that produces the feeling (I couldn't join in the conversation class, which was very frustrating).

Thanks!
