bilingualism, multilinguism and monolinguism

COLOMBIAN EDUCATION TASK 1

DANIEL CORREA URIBE!

INTRODUCTION TO THE TOPIC

monolinguism, multilinguism, and bilinguism

there are three different concepts and related to the discovery of a new language, these 3 concepts can be explained by different ideas due to the complexity of the language and all its variants.

similarly, bilinguism and identity can't be understood apart from eachother, as humans or individuals who can aknowledge or master a language or more, we can also develop an ability to adapt to other culture or situation by building more than one identity ( set of mind )

analysis of readings

both readings explain that bilinguism and monolinguism are 2 concepts that can be understood from us as individuals with a personal perspective and also tehy can be analysed by considering individuals as members of an specific group such as communities, nations etc. we also have the first reading " bilingual edication in colombia" towards a recognition of languages cultures and identities written by mejia, satisfies the readers with an interesting explanation about the importance of setting a language policy in colombia, where all languages should be of equal value to enrich intercultural relations and develop healthy habits of the language on students ' individualism and self- esteem.

on the other hand, the reading ' foundations of bilingual education and bilinguism' highlights the most important facts and identify the differences between monolingual, bilingual and multilingual people. as well as it exposes a great variety of possibilities to refer to peoples language abilities, people can be measure by accordingly to their language competence, level of acquisition and usage.

aspects

there are many different views on multilingualism, monolingualism and bilingualism, yet the most important theory is that language cannot be tested under a set of rules. otherwise when people are in certain groups or communities, their language skills grow, and they show social and intellectual development. As a result students learn to be critical and problem-solving as all concepts expand their meaning through language work, meaning social and intellectual development continues to evolve.

conclusion

monolingualism and bilingualism will have a profound effect on my future teaching, as language is introduced as a catalyst for action and change at the human level in society, so in the field of technology it is important to create and use all available resources to transform and deliver the right message to students. and has created better opportunities for them in their future. therefore much work needs to be done in teaching the new language in this country so that the language can be used both inside and outside the classroom (in written and oral, the use or practice of these skills will be of benefit to us.
